Fundraising Roundup July 2017

July 2017

We try to recognise as many fundraising efforts as we can. Pictures always help, so make sure you get photos of whatever it is you do for us and we’ll try and share all we can.

Here’s our latest round-up …

Francis Nugent’s Morocco Mountain Trek

Francis went to Morocco as a personal challenge to trek Mount Toubkal in the Atlas Mountain Range.

“Well, I made it! Five hard days away and three very hard days walking. 26 hours walking to cover 4167 meters of mountain! Yes it was tough, but a great experience and I have managed to raise £1740 for Children are Butterflies.  So a great thank you to everyone who has helped me to raise this for a very worthwhile cause.”

At 4167M it is the highest point in North Africa. It was a five day trek and fully self-funded which meant that all money Francis raised went to Children are Butterflies.

Francis had a personal reason for this challenge: “We experienced this in our wider family in 2015 when we lost our twelve year old niece Caoimhe. This charity helped my sister-in-law and her husband with financial support regarding the cost of getting a grave. We as a family have not forgotten this kindness and hope that any money raised from this trek will help other families who may be faced with such a tragic situation in the future.”

A special thank you to Francis for his achievement!
